Darrin Acker


Darrin Acker began his journey with Communities for Recovery in 2014, initially serving as Grants Manager. His dedication and leadership led to his progression to Program Manager and eventually to Executive Director in 2019.

Darrin played an instrumental role in the organization’s growth and expanding peer recovery supports and services in Central Texas. He assisted in successfully achieving the organization’s Joint Commission Accreditation and gaining an Exemplary Accreditation from the Counsel on Accreditation of Peer Recovery Support Services.

With a 30-year career in human services, Darrin’s experience includes non-profit organizational management, program development, grant writing and management, mental health and substance use recovery supports and services, HIV/AIDS outreach and education, and juvenile substance abuse prevention.

His early work on a family farm taught him valuable life lessons that influenced his professional ethos. Darrin resides in Georgetown, TX with his family and pets, enjoying yard work and woodworking.
